Lyrics – Two Friends

Two Friends

words and music © 2006, Kate MacColl

Two friends, on first examination, it looks as though one
Played it safe, took the path that everyone expected
Two friends, the other flew away – far, far away
Reflected, self-protected, then stayed more or less, unconnected

WHO IS THE LUCKY ONE?  WHO’S TAKEN BIGGER CHANCES?

Two friends, no judgement, just the facts
One’s had a long, long marriage – the other a long history of moving on
Two friends, adventure or routine?  Commitment versus freedom?
Sacrifice, compromise, who knows?  And

WHO IS THE LUCKY ONE?  WHO’S TAKEN BIGGER CHANCES?
WHO’S GONNA FEEL LIKE SHE WON THE LOTTERY WHEN SHE LOOKS BACK ON HER LIFE?

Two friends, alone not lonely, living life the way it comes
Days are full of friends and purpose – zen, or irresponsible?
Two friends, days are not her own, always doing things for
Someone else…some would call it martyrdom, she calls it choice and

WHO IS THE LUCKY ONE?  WHO’S TAKEN BIGGER CHANCES?
WHO’S GONNA FEEL LIKE SHE WON THE LOTTERY WHEN SHE LOOKS BACK ON HER LIFE?

REPEAT

Guess it all depends on what you call rich
