What I Call Life

words and music Kate MacColl © 1994

Here are two realities, one is mine and that’s where I’ll begin
Open up my eyes each morning, think about my life and I must grin
I’m not being optimistic, naïve or innocent
But when I look to the west I see the setting sun, you only see the darkness closing in

Looking out for number one, you see me as potential enemy
Who will hurt the other first? Don’t get close, then it cannot be
Trust is dangerous, it might bring things too good to be true
So you hide behind the door, in the black despair that is your house of fear, I know love’s the only key

LOVE IS ALL AROUND, LOVE IS ALL INSIDE, LOVE IS WHAT I CALL LIFE

It is more than looking on the bright side, it is being in the light
Knowing that the world is one big garden, I can take what’s in my sight
I share with everyone the gifts that come to me
And I want to give to you, stop pushing me away, I can love you if you don’t put up a fight

LOVE IS ALL AROUND, LOVE IS ALL INSIDE, LOVE IS WHAT I CALL LIFE
