CAN WE MOVE ON?

words and music © 2013, Kate MacColl

A hundred eighty seven days, it was a good run and
Surely long enough to know it should be more fun to
Be around each other and to see you’re not the one

So is it you, or is it me? Or does it matter?
The one I have, the one I need, the one I’d rather are
Weighing on my mind and my heart has never been sadder

WHY WOULD WE BOTHER? LIKE FLOATING IN WATER
OR BUILDING ON SAND THERE’S NOTHING TO STAND ON,
NO FIRM PLACE TO LAND
YOU CAN’T BE MY LOVER, YOU WON’T BE MY FRIEND
CAN WE MOVE ON?

Our heart connection set the pace and overwhelmed us
I need more to run this race but you ask me to trust that our
Chemistry is more than smoke and heat and I say, “Look out! We’re burning up!
This experiment is not love.”

WHY WOULD WE BOTHER? LIKE FLOATING IN WATER
OR BUILDING ON SAND THERE’S NOTHING TO STAND ON,
NO FIRM PLACE TO LAND
YOU WON’T BE MY LOVER, YOU CAN’T BE MY FRIEND
CAN WE MOVE ON?

So please go out and live your life, a life without me
‘Cause if you love me like you claim then you would set me free

WHY WOULD WE BOTHER? LIKE FLOATING IN WATER
OR BUILDING ON SAND THERE’S NOTHING TO STAND ON,
NO FIRM PLACE TO LAND
YOU CAN’T AND YOU WON’T BE MY LOVER OR FRIEND
CAN WE MOVE ON?
